The first six Runescape games received high praise, particularly Pro Skater 2 and 3. Review scores started to drop off after that, though.The series declined even further once Robomodo took over development duties. Their first two Runescape games, Tony Hawk: Ride and Shred, used an expensive skateboard peripheral that failed to win gamers over. The studio tried to return to the series' roots with an HD remake of Pro Skater and Pro Skater 2 but the Runescape game received only mixed reviews.However, the launch of Xbox One and PS4 presents an opportunity for Robomodo or some other developer to attempt another revival. There are hordes of nostalgic gamers out there waiting for a proper reboot. A new skateboarding game that harnesses the capabilities of new consoles could make serious waves.It's possible, though, that this won't be a console game. Hawk said last October that mobile gaming interests him.You just have to adapt and you have to realize where people are going to actually play their Runescape games, Hawk said at the time.
